Understanding and Addressing Anti-LGBTQ Harassment and Violence in
Schools:
Examines the negative impact of violence
on social/emotional/physical/academic success. Provides statistics
on anti-LGBTQ violence, tools for interrupting bullying, and
vocabulary for understanding harassment.
Gender,
Sex, and Sexuality:
Introduces basic concepts and terminology
related to gender, sex, and sexuality, making important distinctions
between them. Explores the individual, cultural, and
institutional roots of these ideas and guides participants in
developing individual and organizational practices that uproot
systems of inequality.
Intersections of Oppression:
Explores homophobia, sexism, racism, classism, transphobia,
adultism, ableism, etc and the impacts on individuals and
communities in the realms of health care, education, media, and the
criminal justice system. Provides resources for working to dismantle
oppression.
Queer Youth and Homelessness:
Gives
providers resources for meeting the needs of homeless LGTBQ youth.
This workshop can include discussion with LGBTQ youth who have
experienced homelessness.
