need a more stable phone line. Heidi is working on it.
b) Recent
interventions:
i) prom - two young men in the Midwest, one
of them wanting to wear a dress and not allowed to. Problem-solved, made
referrals.
ii) A child with an intersex condition apparently assigned the wrong gender at birth and now approaching kindergarten - family wants help finding a safe California school. Problem-solved, suggested ways to educate any - even the most supportive - school staff, and made referrals to GLSEN, PFLAG, CA Safe Schools Coalition, and a few other resources
iii) High school student identifies as lesbian, the school has been great but the mother is challenged. Details unavailable at the time we met.
c) We advertise the intervention team only in Washington State but we take cases from anyone who needs us. Contact the intervention team by web contact form here or by calling our dispatch folks at Planned Parenthood (1-888-307-9275 Monday through Thursday, 3-6 p.m.) or at Hate Free Zone (1-866-439-6631 messages 24 hours/day). HEROES & ROLE MODELS PROJECT
a) YOUR HELP NEEDED: Wall
Chart of Notable Gays & Lesbians in History - exchange of historical resources needs a helper
- would YOU be willing to be the liaison
between Synchronopedia
Corp. and us? It would take about 6 or 8 hours of your time. History teachers, especially, might find this a fun summer project. Interested? Contact Beth
(9) SHOULD
WE BEGIN MEETING BY CONFERENCE CALL OR WITH SPEAKER PHONE?
a) We put this idea out and we got a lot of "yes's". We
discussed options of locations so that those who prefer can still meet
face-to-face but others could join by conference call speaker phone. Several
people agreed to research various locations. (Would people continue
to attend is the mtgs were in Federal Way? Northgate @ Beth's office? LGBTQ
community Center?)
b) The issue will be decided at the June meeting. See next months' minutes for an answer.
Was June 10th-12th. Apologies for the late notice here.

We will be supporting with a letter. The grant would be to provide technical assistance to school districts with implementing the new WA State guidelines for sexual health education.
