Benefits of Joining for Individuals & Families

  1. You are helping a teacher in Kenya to find a lesson plan to reassure a gender non-conforming child that they belong.

  2. You are helping a parent in Arkansas find help communicating with school staff to put a stop to the anti-gay bullying and violence their child’s enduring.

  3. You are helping a principal in your school to find technical assistance for managing an employee who bullies students and training for the whole staff.

Benefits of Joining for Organizations & Businesses

  • VISIBILITY:

    • On the Coalition’s website -- which gets more than 3 million hits each year from people in more than 110 countries. We will list you as a member organization with a link to your web site. We may also offer links to your publications, hotlines, or other resources.

    • On the Coalition’s listserv – with subscribers in 27 Washington State counties, 47 U.S. states, 5 Canadian provinces, and 11 countries. We can send information about your new publications, job & internship openings. We can also send action alerts and fund-raisers for member organizations (not businesses and individuals).

    • On the Coalition’s letterhead – Member organizations (not businesses and individuals) are listed on every letter we send.

  • TRUST & ACCESS:

    • The Coalition’s Intervention Team can feel confident referring students, families or educators to you,

    • If your organization is LGBTQ-focused, belonging to the Coalition can allow you to do projects in the Coalition’s widely-trusted name, one that schools respect.

    • If your organization, school or government agency serves a broader mission of which LGBTQ issues are just a part, belonging to the Coalition can allow you to do projects under its auspices that might be politically difficult to do solo.

  • OWNERSHIP:

    • You get the satisfaction of knowing that you are helping to make schools safe for everyone, including those in rural and conservative places, even as your own organization is otherwise consumed with its own important work.

    • You are welcome to claim the Coalition’s work as your own ... to your donors and members and Board of Directors.

Expectations of Members

  3. Business Members (for-profit businesses and corporations) pay dues annually. Some contribute goods or services, as well. They affirm that their policies explicitly prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity.

  4. Organizational Members (non-profits, schools & other government agencies, etc.) pay dues annually. Some make in-kind contributions in addition to or in lieu of annual dues.
