(1) Breaking News from Alabama regarding the passage of LGBT-inclusive policies
The Birmingham, Alabama Board of Education has just unanimously passed an anti-bullying policy inclusive of sexual orientation, and gender identity and expression. A second policy passed by the board protects LGBT teachers from harassment.
Congratulations to the people of Birmingham for taking this important step toward making everyone safe at school.

Since 1990, the Bobby Griffith Memorial Scholarship has been awarded to a Contra Costa high school senior who contributed to improving the environment for GLBTQ youth. The scholarship was established in memory of Bobby Griffith, a gay youth from Walnut Creek, California, who committed suicide in 1983. Deadline: Feb. 16, 2010
