(1) Nominate someone or apply yourself! The Out In The Silence Campaign is Calling for Nominations for the 2012 Out In The Silence Award for Youth Activism – deadline: June 30th

The award was established in 2011 to honor courageous and unheralded young people who are leading the way in making schools and communities safe from bullying and welcoming for all, especially in places where silence and indifference have rendered lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender youth and their allies invisible, marginalized, fearful, and powerless for far too long.

More information is available here.

Attention all artists, writers, and filmmakers!! Dee Rees is teaming up with Outfest and The Knight Foundation to give away $5,000 in scholarships.

The John S. and James L. Knight Foundation promotes informed and engaged communities by supporting transformational ideas that advance quality journalism and media innovation, engage communities and foster the arts. The foundation's engagement work centers on the communities where the Knight brothers owned newspapers - including Long Beach, Calif.

The scholarship is funded through Knight's national arts program, which aims to weave the arts into people's everyday lives. Knight Foundation is proud to partner with Long Beach filmmaker Dee Rees (PARIAH), and outstanding LBGT film organization Outfest to present the 2012 "Be The Bridge" Scholarship program to support and empower LBGT Youth and their communities. Through the program, a total of $5,000 in unrestricted funds will be awarded to LBGT High School Juniors, Seniors or College Freshman currently residing in the Long Beach or Los Angeles, California area.
