The Teen Feed Coordinator at University Street Ministry is responsible for the complete operation of Teen Feed. This includes site supervision, all volunteer recruiting and training, schedule coordination, and ensuring safety and respect for all Teen Feed guests and volunteers. The program coordinator also works within the community in an outreach and liaison capacity. This is a 30 hour/weekly position and requires that the coordinator be present at each Teen Feed site at least four nights each week, Sunday through Thursday, 5:30 – 9:00pm. The Coordinator is also required to be present Tuesdays 2pm – 5pm for staff meeting and InReach. Outside of the required hours, the coordinator’s schedule is flexible depending on availability.

Position Duties
Provide case management support to at-risk youth and young adults ages 14-24, many of whom who have socio-economic challenges and other barriers to employment, in accordance with program guidelines and requirements. Work closely with participants to assess their strengths and weaknesses, identify career goals and interests, and select appropriate job training, education and/or support services. Work closely with assigned worksite supervisors, school staff and community agencies to assist participant to successfully complete a summer internship/job training experience and gain job-specific skills.

•    Manage a caseload of 40+ youth; counsel, monitor and evaluate job training and work activities throughout the summer.
•    Track and evaluate progress of participants through careful maintenance of required paperwork, timesheets, electronic case notes, follow-up calls and site visits.
•    Perform assessments, referrals and follow-up, and assist participants in selecting appropriate job placement and summer classes as necessary.
•    Work one-on-one and in group settings with youth and young adults who may be skill deficient, criminally involved, teen parents, limited English, homeless, lack work readiness skills or unemployed to motivate, build self-esteem, create and foster successful work/academic training experiences.
•    Responsible for connecting and developing public and private sector jobs and internships for youth. Assist and support worksite supervisors and classroom teachers to ensure goal attainments for the youth.
•    Assist with developing and facilitating programs and services, and linking youth to support services such as educational programs, transportation, child care, medical, housing, personal counseling, mentoring and financial assistance.
•    Responsible for connecting youth to academic and work-training activities following the summer experience.
•    Work closely with Management Information System (MIS) staff and Program Coordinators to ensure quality service and all required data is collected for all participants.
•    Represent the Department to community agencies and the public; organize advocacy efforts and participate on interdepartmental teams.

Required Qualifications
The equivalent of two years of college or an associate degree in psychology, sociology, social welfare, counseling and guidance or a closely related field, and two years of full-time experience in a direct service delivery area such as interviewing, counseling, vocational or academic guidance, or a related field. Pass a criminal background check.

Desired Qualifications
The most competitive applicants will demonstrate:
•    Two years paid experience with caseload management, youth employment, job development, and academic success strategies.
•    Experience working with dropouts, English as a second language populations, youth with learning, developmental, and other disabilities, teen parents, gang or criminally involved, and homeless youth.
•    Knowledge of education and human services agencies serving youth in Seattle area.
•    Experience providing social/direct services in compliance with complex regulations and program guidelines.
•    Excellent oral/written communication.
•    Strong organizational and time management skills.

3) Supervise and monitor clients during meals, shower times, and computer times and in the free spaces of the youth center.

5) Supervise and coordinate client's responsibilities with the upkeep of the facility;
6) Assist staff and management in the assigning and coordination of duties and tasks for volunteers;

Vote for Equality is the organizing arm of the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center. VFE works to advance marriage equality, reduce homophobia, and build the political power of LGBT people and allies through grassroots organizing, using the specific tools of person-to-person voter contact and leadership development. To that end, we are seeking a full-time field organizer to organize and manage various aspects of a sustained campaign focused on voter persuasion around marriage equality through building a well-trained volunteer base, developing and testing messaging tools, and implementing a large scale door-to-door canvassing program.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE
1) Develop and implement systems and logistics to execute effective large scale voter contact and volunteer recruitment actions, such as door-to-door canvassing and phone banking.

In the September 2009 to July 2010 national service year, JustServe AmeriCorps Members will be placed in more than 15 different Criminal Justice System agencies, community-based organizations, faith-based organizations and schools throughout Seattle/King County to:

*Work with youth at risk of violence and incarceration;
*Provide advocacy to victims of domestic violence;
*Support people transitioning back into the community after prison;
*Develop and lead positive community service activities, as an alternative to incarceration; and
*Recruit and mobilize hundreds of community members of all ages to get involved in anti-violence, anti-poverty efforts in our community.

In exchange for 1700 hours of service (40 hours/week) over an 11-month term, Members receive $1,036/month stipend (before taxes) and $4,725 post-service AmeriCorps Education Award. Members participate in community-building and skill-building activities as a 34-Member team for approximately 20% of the time in their service year.
