(2) Online Course, Supporting Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgendered Youth (Online)

Course Description
Supporting GLBTQ youth in school or community-based agency settings can provide some unique challenges. Unsupportive administrations, family opposition, lack of comfort with talking about adolescent sexuality, and a lack of resources can get in the way of providing the support GLBTQ youth need to live healthy and productive lives.

The course will address sexual orientation and gender identity development and expression in adolescents, skills for providing one-on-one support for GLBTQ youth, strategies for supporting families when a young person comes out, and approaches for creating a safe, supportive environment for GLBTQ young people.

This is a hands-on, interactive course based on GLBT 101: Risk and Resiliency, one of our most popular in-person trainings.

Intended Audience
This course is designed for educators, educational administrators, and community-based health and human service providers working with youth.

Course Length and Structure
This is a four-hour course that participants may take any time during the eight days in which the course is scheduled. The course does not need to be completed in one sitting.

CEUs
This course provides four continuing education units (CEUs) for social workers, CHES, and nurses. Others may receive a certificate of attendance.

Cost
The cost for the course is $50. CEUs will be provided for an additional $10.

Scholarships
Thanks to generous support from the Brockton Community Health Network Area and the Blue Hills Community Health Alliance, we are able to offer this course at no cost to a limited number of providers and educators from the towns served by these two groups.

These towns include:
Abington, Avon, Braintree, Bridgewater, Brockton, Canton, Cohasset, East Bridgewater, Easton, Hingham, Holbrook, Hull, Milton, Norwell, Norwood, Quincy, Randolph, Scituate, Sharon, Stoughton, West Bridgewater, Weymouth, and Whitman.

(3)  Fighting the 'Ex-Gay' Myth  (June 8-10, Asheville, NC)

Last week, Exodus International visited West Virginia to teach local pastors how to reject LGBT people and "cure" them of their homosexuality.

Fortunately, TWO joined Fairness West Virginia and its talented new leader Bradley Milam (pictured in suit) in fighting back. Together, we refuted their insidious lies with a heavy dose of truth. This included TWO Executive Director Wayne Besen (pictured) speaking at West Virgina University to a packed house, followed by a student-led protest outside the church where the Exodus event was being held.

TWO's next stop is Asheville (June 8-10) where we will counter Exodus International's "The Reality of Grace" ex-gay extravaganza. If you want to help us confront the lies of the "ex-gay" industry, please contribute now.

Our counter conference will take place at Tressa's, 28 Broadway, in Asheville. All programs will begin at 7:00 p.m.
