(1)
Report on the National Transgender Discrimination Survey (4/7/2011 2011;
Seattle, WA)
Come get more detail about the groundbreaking
first national report on Transgender discrimination in the United States. The
report is already having a substantial impact on public policy and providing
hard, measurable evidence for the facts we already know from personal
experience: that transgender people face injustice at every turn.
A few key findings from the report:
Respondents were
-
Four times more likely to have an income under $10,000 per year than other
Americans
-
41% have attempted suicide compared to 1.6% of all Americans
-
78% were harassed in grades K-12
-
Double the rate of unemployment
-
47% have been discriminated against in the workplace
-
Discrimination is substantially worse for Transgender people of color
If you care about justice and ending discrimination, this is a must-attend
event. A report author will be on hand to present the material and discuss the
findings.

LET'S
TALK ABOUT SEX presents an innovative and empowering

sexual health in the United States .
Invite your friends on Facebook to tune in to LET'S TALK ABOUT SEX
on April 9!
While American teens live in a society that uses sex to sell everything from
lipstick to laptops, they are rarely afforded opportunities to discuss sex and
sexual health in an open, honest way. Through interviews with real parents and
teens, health experts, and faith leaders, director James Houston presents a
revealing look at how American attitudes towards adolescent sexuality impact
teenagers. The United States has among the highest teen pregnancy and STD rates
in the industrialized world.
Produced in collaboration with Advocates for Youth, LET'S TALK ABOUT SEX is
both a catalyst and a tool to initiate healthy conversations in kitchens and
classrooms across the country.
