(1) New Jersey has just passed an awesome Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights

It protects all students bullied for any reason.  The legislation maintains the language of New Jersey's existing anti-bullying law, enacted in 2002, which enumerates protection of students based on their actual or perceived race, color, religion, ancestry, national origin, disability, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, and has clear language protecting students bullied for any other reason.  The law will continue to apply to students bullied for any reason.

A summary of all the bill's provisions is at www.njleg.state.nj.us/2010/Bills/A3500/3466_S1.HTM and the complete text of the bill is at www.njleg.state.nj.us/2010/Bills/A3500/3466_I2.HTM.

Want to be creative, funny, terrifying, heartbreaking and/or moving and also do some good?

By entering a :25 second PSA into our Anti-Bullying Contest, you can raise awareness of the tragic effects of bullying or encourage people to stand up when they seem someone being bullied.

Read a great post about the contest on Change.org.

Check out this (long) example. Or this one (almost the right length). Or look at the GREAT PSAs on Love is Louder. You are welcome to do something similar here. Upload them by JANUARY 10, 2011 at http://www.365gay.com/psa-contest/ The five best will be posted online at 365gay.com, AfterEllen.com , AfterElton.com and NewNowNext.com on JANUARY 18, 2011.

Users will vote on their favorites until January 25, 2011.

The top video (or two) will be aired on Logo TV and may possibly air across MTV Networks. We’re working on that. Since the winner will be on-air, we prefer you to shoot in HD (most video cameras have this option Flip cams, digital cameras, etc.). But do what you can. Read the official rules and get specifications at http://www.365gay.com/psa-contest/

And please forward this call for entries to your creative friends, gay and straight!

365gay initiated this contest because we wanted to give our readers and the readers of other Logo sites the chance to respond in some way to the tragic suicides of Fall 2010.
