Wyman's Teen Outreach Program (TOP) is a nationally recognized youth development approach that has been proven to foster academic success and prevent teen pregnancy. Wyman's Teen Outreach Program (TOP) Training is intended to support communities and organizations in the implementation of Wyman's TOP. Participants in this training will get certified as TOP facilitators during the two and a half days of TOP training at the end of the week.
The first two days of the week will be modeled after the Institute for Community Health Educators (ICHE), and is an opportunity to be fully engaged in a residential, skill-based training of facilitators who will be implementing TOP. The ICHE model will provide many opportunities to analyze and evaluate how people learn, effective teaching methods and skills, learn about new teaching strategies and resources, and network. Topics explored will include: sexuality, gender, sexuality education, etc.
The check in time for participants on Sunday is 7:30PM. The lodge will not be available until this time; please do not arrive early. While light refreshments will be served Sunday night, be sure to eat dinner prior to arriving at Rainbow Lodge.
TOP-ICHE will adjourn at 12:00PM on Friday. Lunch will be provided. If you plan to fly, it is recommended to schedule your Friday departure for after 4PM.
TOP-ICHE will be held at Rainbow Lodge in North Bend, WA, 45 minutes east of Seattle. This is a residential training with evening sessions and all participants are expected to stay on site for the entire week. Rooms are double occupancy. Roommates will be assigned. Rainbow Lodge is wheelchair accessible and ADA compliant. Rainbow Lodge has wireless internet and television available in common areas. The grounds include a small pond, outdoor tables and seating, a volleyball court, and forested trails.
For detailed directions, please refer to Rainbow Lodge Map & Directions.
All meals are served in a communal cafeteria in buffet style. If you have special dietary needs please contact us. While not all special dietary needs can be accommodated, you are also welcome to bring snacks and specialty foods to store in the kitchen area which has 24 hour access.
