(1) Nominate a King County area youth for a Youthopolis award - due April 4

The 9th Annual Youthopolis Awards is almost here!  Presented by MPowerment, Youthopolis is a queer youth awards show organized by youth, for youth!  It's time to nominate young people (22 and under) and groups that have made significant contributions to the GLBTQ community in Seattle/King County.

The nomination is due April 4, 2010.  The actual Youthopolis will take in mid-May.  Please stay tuned for more info!  We will post periodic updates on our Facebook Page (https://www.facebook.com/pages/MPowerment-Seattle/197938319702).

This year we have provided you with a simple online application form. This form can be found at the following link: http://goo.gl/UacGi

Since there is no save and return feature for the online application, please complete the nomination in its entirety before hitting SUBMIT at the very end of the application. If you'd prefer to submit a paper application, please use the form attached to this email and fax it to the fax number listed below.

We hope you will nominate a young person, and we hope to see you at this year's Youthopolis!

(3) MetLife Foundation Afterschool Innovator Awards: Nominate Middle School Programs for a Chance to Win $10,000

Dear Afterschool Supporter,

The Afterschool Alliance and MetLife Foundation need your help identifying exemplary afterschool programs serving middle school youth to win a $10,000 MetLife Foundation Afterschool Innovator Award and to be featured in our series of Issue Briefs.

Nominate a program by May 31, 2011 to be considered for this prestigious initiative, now in its fourth year. Nominees are sought in four categories:

The MetLife Foundation Afterschool Innovator Awards aim to identify potentially lesserknown, yet highly effective, programs and the individuals running them. Nominees will be judged by the innovative nature of their approach and demonstrated effectiveness. Each of the five award winners will receive $10,000 for their program, to be presented in October in conjunction with Lights On Afterschool <http://www.afterschoolalliance.org/loa.cfm>. Awardees and other notable nominees will be recognized in a nationally-released Issue Brief and compendium.

The online nomination form can be found here and additional details, including information about past years’ winners, are available online at http://www.afterschoolalliance.org/metLife.cfm.

Nominate a program yourself, or point us to candidates by emailing cdagostino@afterschoolalliance.org.

If you have any questions please contact Chris D’Agostino at cdagostino@afterschoolalliance.org or call (202) 347-2030.

Sincerely,

Afterschool Alliance
