A Community Training
on Bullying and Negative
Mental Health
Outcomes

Carter on March 30th from 4-6 pm for an open, community wide training on
Bullying and Bias-based harassment and the links these experiences have to long
term negative mental health outcomes. We will also discuss youth
suicide
intervention as, unfortunately, these two issues are linked as well.

Title: Safe from
Bullies-Saving Lives
The desired outcomes for this training are:
- Be able to define bullying and bias based harassment (as it pertains to
LGBTQ youth) and who’s involved in the behaviors
-
Identify the relationship between bullying and bias based harassment &
negative mental health outcomes such as depression
and thoughts of suicide
- Identify negative emotions associated with these experiences-for the bully,
the target, and the bystander
- Understand the risks and experiences of LGBTQ youth face
- Recognize protective factors against bullying and bias based harassment
- Recognize the warning signs for suicide

Demonstrate the
suicide intervention strategies of show you
care, ask the question and get help
- Understand what schools, families, and community partners can do to prevent
and intervene in bullying incidents
- Identify resources for help at school and in the community
